All About Goats Tour – A Better Way Goat Farm
For the few months that we lived in Virginia, I searched for homeschool activities and field trip opportunities. I found a goat farm in Waynesboro, Virginia called A Better Way Goat Farm. Goats! I love goats! We were so doing this!
The owners of this farm offer a free “All About Goats” tour, as well as soap making and cheesemaking classes. Visiting this farm was an amazing experience, but if you ever go to a goat farm be warned! These animals know absolutely nothing about personal space, as you will see.
Here are some of the smaller ones hanging out in front of the barn. I’m not sure why they were so far away; most of the goats were all over us!
These babies were so sweet, and standing next to us was not acceptable; they wanted to be standing on us.
Kendall is holding her hair so this baby goat would stop chewing on it.
Casey wasn’t sure about holding a goat, but this one wouldn’t take no for an answer. Look at that adorable farm house!
Check them out in the background. There were goats everywhere. The people who run this farm are extremely friendly and answered all of our questions. They have these tours all the time, and I think the goats are so affectionate because they are around people so much. This experience was so much better than any commercial petting zoo I have ever been to.
This baby was born while we were there. Sorry for the picture quality, it was not an easy shot to get. 5 minute old goat.
More, and more goats!
And as I was saying about personal space! Goats don’t get the concept LOL!!
Worth a visit if you are in the Waynesboro or Charlottesville Virginia area. You may want to wear shoes you don’t care too much about! Check out some of our other great homeschool experiences The Old Mill Roswell Georgia!
