Character Breakfast – Pooh & Friends Crystal Palace Walt Disney’s Magic Kingdom

It wasn’t until Casey was eleven that I found out his favorite Disney character was Piglet. He had been going to the parks for years and had never mentioned it before. But all of a sudden, there it was. Piglet. He had to see Piglet. Well, I’m always up for a trip to Disney, so as one of his Christmas presents he was promised a character breakfast with Piglet at The Crystal Palace in The Magic Kingdom.

We tried to make a reservation that wasn’t too early; we love that the parks have later hours for resort guests and normally aren’t in any big rush to leave our hotel room. For one thing, we are annual passholders, so we go to Walt Disney a lot. And another thing, depending on the month, it is just too darn hot in Florida to stand in line for rides all day long. Sometimes, we just use the resort pools and head into the parks closer to evening time. Anyway, we ended up with a 9:45 reservation, and were seated at our table within a few minutes of checking in.

Before we were seated we could see the characters moving around from table to table. The Crystal Palace is a beautiful restaurant just off Main Street, and almost the entire front is made up of huge windows. We sat, ordered drinks, and Tigger was at our table in under 5 minutes. He posed with the kids for several pictures, and was in no rush to leave us. Then we headed to the buffet, which had a bit of everything. There were pastries, fruit, yogurts, waffles, scrambled eggs, potatoes, breakfast meats, cereals, and I’m sure I’m leaving something out!

Pooh came around next. Again, plenty of time to take pictures. The lighting in the restaurant was fantastic due to all the windows, and almost every shot I took came out great. Both kids even smiled!!!

Then came my favorite Winnie the pooh character; Eeyore!!! I have a thing for donkeys (wait, WHAT?!?!). Anyway, this was the only character I took a solo photo with. I mean really, he’s the cutest. Just look at that tail!

After our Eeyore photos, we went back to the buffet (unlimited trips, right?) and got seconds. We ate more and waited. This was the big event. This was what we came here for. We could see him making his way around the room. So cute. So sweet. So PINK!!!!!

I was super stoked that these photos turned out so good. Piglet was great and posed for a lot of pictures when we mentioned that we were basically there to see him (he promised not to tell the others), and the entire breakfast was a fantastic success.

For holidays and birthdays, I now try to give gifts that make memories. I love travel, and experience, and adventure. I love these photographs, and most importantly the memories that we shared at this breakfast and with these great characters. It, for me, was worth way more than something they opened under the Christmas tree, most of which has probably been cast aside and forgotten by now.

As the kids grow, I know we will continue to make these memories and have these experiences, and I am so thankful for that. Someone once said (I looked for the quote but could not find it), you will never regret spending time with your children. If anyone is on the fence about going to this breakfast, I highly recommend it, especially if you have a fan of Pooh characters in your family. The food can be a little on the expensive side, but the memories will make it all worth it.

“Sometimes,” said Pooh, “the smallest things take up the most room in your heart.”
